Davina Buchanan

Architectural Designer

BA(Hons)

Davina started out as an interior designer, but has since shifted her focus to Architecture. Early on, she found the solid form and longevity associated with architecture more appealing than the rapid lifecycles she found associated with interiors.

Davina studied Interior Design at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, Surrey, after which she worked with corporate interior fitout company Morgan Lovell, progressing to the role of Senior Designer where she was responsible for the full design and conception of projects, seeing them through to completion. Following this, Davina worked at the retail fitout company Zebra, also in London, where Davina was involved in the production of fast paced projects for well-known high street & concession retail outlets.

Moving on from her experience of interiors in London, Davina worked at Spratley Studios in Henley for eight years. During this time she gained invaluable experience in architecture and worked on a huge range of projects, running projects from conception, on site and to completion. Projects she was involved with, included complex refurbishments, contemporary new build and listed buildings. Her experience includes concept design and development, effective client relations, production of planning and building control drawings, NBS specification writing, full construction drawing packages, contract administration, co-ordination of consultant information, site meetings and inspections.

Davina left Spratley Studios following the expansion of her family when her first child was born in 2011. After a break from employment to be a full time parent Davina returned to the working world in April 2013 and has been with Tait Architects since. Working alongside Stephen once again Davina has been enjoying working on a wide scope of projects, from feasibility studies through to large luxury leisure facilities.
