STEPHEN TAIT

DIRECTOR

BA(Hons), Dip Arch, RIBA

Coming from a background of creating contemporary architecture from inception to completion, Stephen's passionate belief that good quality design makes a difference led him to establish Tait Architects in January of 2011.

With a young family he decided to move out of London and joined the fledgling practice of Spratley Architects in the outskirts of Reading. Focusing on the design and delivery, as Stephen worked with the owner, the company flourished, growing from 5 to 20 employees in four years. Stephen became a joint director in the fifth year, continuing to design and implement schemes, whilst taking on the role of design director on other projects, improving accountability and the general systems within the practice. This experience offered Stephen the opportunity to work on a large range of projects, from one off "grand design" houses, to 40,000 sq. ft. office buildings for MEPC; from nurseries to study spaces and leisure facilities for Oxford University and Oxford Brookes.

During this time Stephen worked collaboratively with RIBA Stirling Prize winning practice, Fielden Clegg Bradley, working out of their London office on MEPC's Wellington Place development and bringing the experience of working on a prototype, sustainable, air-conditioning system at their Basingstoke Business Park, to bear on the much larger scheme in Leeds.

Stephen is currently realizing a luxury spa facility in the Home Counties instilling his deftness of design touch to a growing portfolio of leisure projects at Tait Architects.
